Q: why are an ey and a pyramid on a one dollar bill? - Kolleen Skahan

A: Ever hear of the Great Seal of the United States? No, it?s not some silippery critter with flippers that can balance a ball on its nose. This kind  of seal is used to put a design on important papers. That helps show that the paper is official. The great seal has two sides Both are shown on the back of the dollar bill. The front is the one with an eagle holding 13 arrows and an olive branch with 13 leaves and olives. Above the eagle are 13 stars. They stand for the first 13 states. This is the side used on the documents.

 

The other side has the pyramid with the eye above it. The pyramid which has 13 rows shows that states are strong together. But the pyramid isn?t finished, because it hopes to keep building and getting better. The eye stands for the eye of God, watching over the country. The words ?Annuit Coeptis? (13letters) also refer to God. They mean, ?He was favored our undertakings?  Novus Ordo Seclorum means ?A new order of the ages.? Thats because the nation made history with its new way of government.
